It has been a very exciting and fulfilling first month as full time Executive Director. There is so much positive energy and engaged members it is difficult not to get excited!

There are great new developments both in the SDPC and with SIF. In SDPC work has begun on developing the Registry 2.0! This is a very large project and many of you will be engaged throughout the process. In the end we will be delivering a much more robust and user friendly Resource Registry. Much more to come on this in the near future.

The Access 4 Learning (A4L) Community is excited to announce the appointment of Steve Smith as their new Executive Director. Mr. Smith brings a wealth of interoperability and privacy leadership expertise to the A4L Community, both as a leader of district and state-level technology projects, and as the Founder of the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC).

COMMUNITY REVIEW: Association Bylaws

Per approved organizational By-Laws, any changes to the established documents require approval by the Association Board of Directors (global) for any revisions to release them to Community membership for comment and approval. The Board have reviewed the changes and voted to release them for a 3 week review and voting period by the membership.

Community Review period will be open from Tuesday, October 10, 2023 until 12noon ET on Monday, October 30, 2023 (inclusive).

The Access 4 Learning (A4L) Community is proud to announce the release of the collaboratively developed global SIF Infrastructure Specification 3.5 which is unique in the technical standards world in that it supports data movement via greater interoperability by standardizing ‘data and privacy on the wire’.

We have an API for that…

This is what more and more marketplace providers are promoting for ‘ease of use’ of their products.  In contrast, more and more school CIO-types are stating that the bevy of APIs they must utilize (plus the constant changes made to them), have become a data management nightmare.  Since the A4L Community supports vendors and end users, it makes sense for us to look for ways to standardize and simplify.  The idea: standardize an infrastructure for data transport that can carry any data model ‘on the wire’.
